Reiki
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki means “universal life energy.”
It comes from two Japanese words: Rei, which refers to the universal force, and Ki, the life energy present in each of us.
A natural and holistic approach
Reiki is a natural energy healing practice.
It aims for overall well-being on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
During a session, the practitioner channels universal energy and transmits it by laying the hands on specific areas of the body.
This approach helps to:
-
release blockages and tension
-
harmonize the flow of energy
-
rebalance the chakras and meridians
-
promote a state of deep relaxation
The goal is simple: to restore balance and well-being.
Reiki and life energy
We are beings of energy.
Life energy flows within and around us. When this flow is disrupted, discomfort may appear, whether physical or emotional.
Reiki promotes:
-
emotional relief
-
stress reduction
-
support for the body’s natural abilities of recovery and self-regulation
It supports people seeking calm, grounding, and inner harmony.
Origins of Reiki
Mikao Usui developed Reiki between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
His research was based on the study of sacred texts from Japan, China, and Tibet.
Following a spiritual experience on Mount Kurama, he is said to have reached a state of awakening and accessed this universal life energy, which he then transmitted through the practice of Reiki.
Reiki and medicine
Reiki does not replace medical care. It is considered a complementary therapy and can accompany medical treatment if desired.
In Switzerland, some complementary health insurance plans cover Reiki sessions, depending on the terms of the policy.
